Hi Teresita,

This is curious...all hormone levels normal, but still no menstruation. Below are links to articles on herbs that are helpful for irregular cycles. These articles give full details about the herbs, which will help you to get an idea of what may be best for your body...

Vitex: http://natural-fertility-info.com/vitex
Dong Quai: http://natural-fertility-info.com/dong-quai-fertility-herb.html
Tribulus Terrestris: http://natural-fertility-info.com/tribulus-fertility.html
Pregnancy Prep: http://natural-fertility-info.com/increase-your-chances-of-becoming-pregnant-with-pregnancy-prep.html

You may also want to consider <a href="http://natural-fertility-info.com/stress-and-your-fertility.html" rel="nofollow">stress</a>, as it can impact the menstrual cycle.

Best Wishes,

Dalene

Hello,
My OBGyn gave me Provera for 5days to promote mentruation but 2 days after finishing it, there is still no menstruation. I had started taking Maca a week before being placed on the Provera. My husband and I agreed to not take any more chemical prescriptions and would like to continue the natural route. Is there anything else that I should take with the Maca to help ovulation/increase my fertility?
**side note: my tests came back stating all hormone levels are fine and uterus in good position...husband healthy too! Trying for 1 year...not sure what's wrong??**
Thank you in Advance,
Tere!

Hi Milena,

It would be best to not use Vitex into pregnancy without the strick supervision of a qualified herbalist, ND or midwife. It would be best to learn about using <a href="http://www.naturalfertilityshop.com/Emerita-Progest-p/ef0032.htm" rel="nofollow">natural progesterone cream</a> instead of synthetic progesterone prescribed by your doctor. Natural progesterone is safe to use during pregnancy and may likely prevent many first trimester spontaneous abortions but should be used with caution in nursing as it may stop lactation. In the first trimester of pregnancy progesterone production is the sole responsibility of the ovaries, often they may fail to produce sufficient levels to maintain the pregnancy. By the second trimester, the placenta itself is responsible for producing progesterone, and it hikes the level of this hormone to 486% higher than the non-pregnant norm.

Synthetic progesterone drugs, not being natural progesterone, have side effects that if used to maintain the pregnancy may do damage to the baby.

If you are taking progesterone and get pregnant, you must continue taking progesterone until at least the 16th week. I personally would not stop if I had seriously low levels to begin with. But it is best to work with your health care practitioner if this is the case. They will continuously monitor your levels to make sure they are healthy for pregnancy.

Best Wishes,

Dalene

Hi Jane,

Your Chinese herbalist is correct. In general it is best not to combine Chinese Herbs with Western Herbs unless the practitioner is trained or educated about both. It is possible to combine some of them when educated about each particular herb of interest. Maca and wheatgrass are considered superfoods first and foremost and have been shown safe to combine with most herbs. You could print some information about Maca off for him, he could look it over and then you can go from there.

Maca: http://natural-fertility-info.com/maca

Is it safe to take maca and wheatgrass along with chinese herbs? My chinese herbalist says generally it's not safe to combine western and chinese herbs but he's not qualified in western herbs so can't comment specifically. Thanks!

Hi bisi,

It would be best to wait for at least a month after the operation, to make sure you are fully healed and rested. You may begin a multivitamin supplement at any time.

Best Wishes,

Dalene
