Herbal Help for cleansing the reproductive system and liver in preparation for pregnancy.
The Fertility Cleanse Kit uses many different herbs in its 5 herbal formulas, some of which I would like to share with you here. Here is a listing of some of the main herbs in the formulas and how they work in the Fertility Cleanse.
Milk Thistle
Milk Thistle is a wonderful liver cleanser. The seed is the medicinal part of the plant. It is used in the Fertility Cleanse to help the liver detoxify itself of toxins and excess hormones.
Actions:
-Cleanses and nourishes the liver
Burdock Rt.
Burdock loves to grow everywhere, in fields, by fences, in the woods. Burdock roots are very deep and strong. When I harvested burdock for the first time, I got my but kicked because the roots are so strong and deep, but that is what makes burdock full of minerals and liver cleansing compounds that are noticeable by its bitter taste.
Burdock root is best known for:
-Cleansing the blood
-Moving the lymph
-Flushing the kidneys
-Aids in digestion
-Neutralizes toxins
-Cleansing the uterus
-Clearing out the lungs
Dandelion
Dandelion is a nutritious and detoxifying herb. In the Fertility Kit we use both the root and the leaf. The root being more detoxifying for the liver and the leaf contains minerals and digestive bitters that help with digestion.
The leaves and the roots are full of minerals that help to:
-Cleanse the liver
-Cleanse the kidneys
-Aid the stomach
-Rich in calcium, iron and vitamin A, and C.
-Moves the lymph
Goldenseal
Goldenseal is an herb that has a strong antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antiseptic action. It helps to cleanse the reproductive area and the blood.
Actions:
- Cleanses the reproductive area
-Cleanses the blood
Donq Quai
Dong Quai is a popular Chinese herb that is highly regarded as a fertility promoter. Best results are attained when Dong Quai is taken during the days between ovulation and menstruation and stopped from the beginning of menstruation till ovulation. Also use Dong Quai only in combination with other herbs.
Actions:
-Normalizes the menstrual cycle
Red Raspberry lf.
Raspberry leaves are commonly found growing in the wild where I live. The leaves are one of the best herbs (I know I say that about every one of them listed) for preparing the body and uterus for conception. Raspberry leaves taste mild and can be consumed daily, especially once you are pregnant.
Actions:
-Raspberry leaf is a uterine tonic
-Contains a large amount of absorbable calcium
-High in minerals and vitamins
You can purchase the fertility cleanse kit from www.NaturalFertilityShop.com.

Hi Hethir,
I was wondering if I can use any of these cleansing herbs while actively trying to get pregnant. I am 46 and have taken months off to get healthy, give my ovaries that 3 month period of creating healthy eggs, etc. but feel I just can’t take another chunk of time off. Cleansing makes sense to me particularly liver, kidneys and uterus, and I was wondering if I can do things to support this while trying and even during the part of the cycle when I could be pregnant.
Thanks. Happy New Year to you!
Susan
Hi Susan,
It is not recommended that you cleanse while pregnant or if you think you may be pregnant. I always suggest to anyone who does the Fertility Cleanse to take a break during that month, so they don’t get stressed out. I congratulate you for taking charge of your health.
Best wishes,
Hethir
Hi- I have been reading your articles and what these natural herbs to for a fertility cleanse. I want to try to concieve for the first time, but I have irregular periods and have to be like on medicine for this problem. I have been tested for so many things i.e., thyroid, endometrosis, pcos, etc., and nothing comes up negative with me. My doctor told me that she would to put me under medication to try to concieve. I have been to couple of doctors and they all tll me the same thing that nothing is wrong with me. Since nothing is wrong with me why can’t my periods regularize with all the medicine I have taken? I want to try this product and in hopes of great news to come along.
Hi Maria,
I always suggest that herbs and medications not be mixed. Please talk to your doctor about trying the herbs while you are on the medications she prescribed. There are many reasons a menstrual cycle to be out of balance. You can learn about the natural options that help with this common issue here: http://natural-fertility-info.com/how-to-get-your-period-back.html
Hi, i just recently got off the Depo provera shot after being on for only 6 months and i am ready to try and have my second child please tell me if using the fertility cleanse is a good idea .
Hi Shelika,
I get this question often and I would deffinately suggest Fertility Cleansing for those who have just come off of Birth Control. Birth Control contains synthetic hormones which are filtered out by your liver. The Fertility Cleanse Kit is designed to help your liver rid of those excess synthetic hormones that may be built up in you liver. Also if you didn’t have your period for any lenght of time while on Birth Control you may have old blood in your uterus that needs to be cleaned out, the cleanse also helps to do that.
All the Best,
Dalene
Hi,
I had a miscarriage and had to get an d&c for it about 6 months ago. Every since then I had irregular periods until now. My cycle was very normal before than.My doctor told me to wait three cycles to try to concieve again and I did. I have been trying to concieve since then and have no luck. My menstrual is very irregular now. I would love to cleanse my body the natural way instead of medications.Do you think the fertility cleansing kit would be good for me with trying to concieve?
Thanks
Hi Sumayyah,
The Fertility Cleanse is a great place to start with supporting the body in coming back into balance. For many women that’s all it takes. Also, knowing a little more detail about your cycle can help to figure out where the imbalance may be. (length of period, color, length of cycle, etc.)
Hi,
I’m trying to conceive through IVF for the second time. The first time my doctor said that my ovaries did not produce enough eggs so the cycle was stopped. I would like to know if it is safe to use the fertility cleansing and the zymessence while taking the IVF medications.
thank you for your help,
Marie
Hi Marie,
We don’t recommend taking any herbs while on fertility medications, the Fertility Cleanse Kit contains herbs. Zymessence may be used, but should be discontinued 2 weeks prior to any surgery, including harvesting of eggs. This is because Zymessence is a slight blood thinner. I recommend getting the ok from your doctor to take Zymessence during your IVF Cycle.

Dalene
I am going to start minimal invasive IVF in about 4 to 5 weeks. Can I do the cleanse during the weeks in between before we start any additional follicle stimulating medications?
Hi Marie,
Yes you may be able to fit a Fertility Cleanse in. It takes 30 days to complete (one menstrual cycle). The Fertility Cleanse Kit should be completely fininished before beginning any fertility medications for IVF.

Dalene
HI! Thanks in advance for emailing me back!! I am about to start my cleanse (using Wild Yam, Vitex, Ginger, Dandeloin, and Licorice) but I am a bit unsure about timing – when is it good to start? with menses or after menses?
hi…..i have been off the depo since july….and im trying to get pregnant through artificial insemination…..can i take a cleansing kit..to get rid of the depo out of my system…..and then try again after the cleaqnsing kit…..will a cleansing kit help me get pregnant??????
Hi My,
Beginning a cleanse just after your period ends would be best.
Warmly,
Dalene
Hi Becca,
Fertility Cleansing may help by cleansing your liver and fat cells of the excess hormones from the depo, it may also help prepare your uterus for your upcoming insemination. You may also want to learn about Fem Rebalance, a great product for balancing hormones and cleansing after coming off of fertility medications.

Me and my husband have been trying to get pregnant since September. I was on depo prior to us trying to conceive and my last shot was in June. I am currently taking vitex and using the progesterone cream and have only had one period followed by no ovulating!!! I’m so frustrated, we really want to add a second addition to our family but are having no success!!!! What can i do? I have been looking at the fertility cleanse and it looks like it might be a good idea, however i don’t drink tea due to religion and the taste, any other suggestions?? I look forward to your response!!!!
THANKS!!
Hi Tonni,
How long have you been using the Vitex and Progesterone Cream? What dosage are you taking of both of them? Vitex and progesterone cream may take some time to be effective and build up in your system. Vitex usually takes 6-12 months to acheive desired results, this herb takes patience. I am curious as to which religeon does not allow tea drinking? The Fertility Cleanse Kit contains herbal teas that do not contain any caffeine. If you are still wanting to cleanse using this kit you can exclude the teas and purchase all of the products separately, they are as follows: Liver Renew Caps, Milk Thistle Extract and Women’s Best Friend. We do not suggest using Vitex nor progesterone cream during the cleanse which means if you chose to do the cleanse you would have to start all over with those products after the cleanse was finished. The cleanse may greatly help to remove excess synthetic hormones in the liver left over from the depo. The Women’s Best Friend caps also support uterine function and health, since you have not had a regular cycle your uterus may need to be supported since it has not been functioning as it normally would.
Best Wishes,
Dalene
I have been using the vitex and the cream for a little over a month, i take 4 vitex a day, 2 in the morning and 2 at night and i use the cream nightly at 20mg a pump. All and all i’m pretty sure that my problem stems from the depo i was on before because i already have one baby, i’m just really ready for another but i’m not even having a regular period to ovulate. If i get the stuff to do the cleanse and stop taking the vitex and progesterone do you think it will help clean the depo out of my system and begin having a regular period and able to ovulate once again? I feel like i’m beating my head against a brick wall, the depo has made my life so stressful since i didn’t know it would have those affects on my body. I look forward to your response and advice!!!
Tonni
Hi Tonni,
If you are using the Progesterone Cream everyday you may suppress ovulation. When using it in the absence of a regular cycle it may be used for 2 weeks on, 2 weeks of to “create” a menstrual cycle. Please read over our Progesterone Fertility Guide to learn how to use it properly: http://natural-fertility-info.com/progesterone-fertility-guide
Many Depo-provera users do not get a regular menstrual cycle for a year or longer after using it. The Progestin in this birth control prevents the ovary from releasing the egg, thickens cervical mucous to make it difficult for the sperm to reach the uterus and thins the uterine lining. Fertility Cleansing may help to remove excess hormones from the liver and fat cells. The Fertility Cleanse may be great way for anyone who is experiencing challenges when coming off hormonal birth control to create a foundation for hormonal balance and a healthy uterus for implantation. Fertility Cleansing creates a “clean slate” within the body that helps the body to respond and utilize other natural remedies better. You are correct in that you would have to stop using the Vitex and Progesterone Cream during the cleanse.
The overall goal when coming off of birth control and wanting to try and conceive would be to nourish and support the entire hormonal feedback loop, egg health, cervical mucous and uterine health. Here are some ideas you may want to learn more about that may help bring your body back into balance:
1. Natural Fertility Diet-studies have shown birth control containing hormones to deplete many vital nutrients in our bodies.
2. Fertility Cleansing
3. Hormonal Rebalancing: Fem Rebalance, Maca, Vitex, Tribulus Terrestris
4. Self Fertility Massage-when your reproductive system has not been functioning normally for a long time, external massage may support its natural function once again.
Be patient with your body, give it some time to readjust and heal. Give it support!

Hi Lida,
If you started your period in the middle of the cleanse just stop using the products until your period ends and then continue the cleanse until your products are gone.
All the best,
Dalene
I got on depo Feb. 17 the day of my abortion which I made an bad mistake in doing that. And I don’t want the depo in my system anymore is it ok to take the cleansing.
Hello, I am about to get my period and plan to start my fertility cleanse kit after it is done. I was wondering if being on an anti depressant (To be specific, I am on Celexa) would be okay while I am doing the cleanse?
Also, I have been trying to conceive for almost 2 years now and can’t because I have endometriosis, fibroids, adhesions (scarring) and ovarion cysts as well. Will this cleanse be strong enough to help with all those things as well?
Thanks so much!
Alicia
Hi RO,
Depo-Provera is an injectable shot that contains progestin. Progestin keeps the ovaries from releasing the eggs, thickening cervical mucous to prevent sperm from reaching the uterus and thinning the uterine lining which may prevent implantation. Note: continued use of Depo-Provera may stop the menstrual cycle completely and it may take longer than average (9 months-2 years for the menstrual cycle to regulate after stopping it). Once you have gotten a shot of Depo-provera you cannot stop it’s side effects for 12-14 weeks.
It may be best to wait until after the 12-14 weeks after you have received the shot to begin the cleanse, this is a powerful medication that needs time to run its course. Once that time frame is up you can begin natural remedies to balance your hormones back out. Hi Alicia,
Because I am not a medical doctor I cannot say if the herbs in this cleanse will affect your anti-depressant medication. There are two mood altering herbs in the Conceptions tea that may be of concern to react or affect your medication and they are Skullcap and Damiana. Please talk to your doctor about how liver cleansing and mood altering herbs may affect your medication use and if they are safe. You use of this medication may also affect your ability to use other natural remedies for the fertility conditions you have listed.

Hi. I have had a period for about six months due to a Depo Provera shot I had in November and again in January. I just started a birth control pill called Levora hoping to end this irregular period. Will this cleansing system possibly speed up the end of this long period? Will it help me? This constant bleeding is driving me crazy!
Dear Jamie,
I am not a medical doctor, but it seems like a lot for your body to handle not only the depo-provera shot, but on top of that to be give another form of birth control medication to control the constant menstrual bleeding. The Fertility Cleanse Kit cannot stop the effects of synthetic hormonal birth control. The synthetic hormones in the birth control will have to run its course. Once the effects are worn away (this can only happen by discontinuing use of the birth control) then you could consider doing a Fertility Cleanse. You can learn how synthetic hormones from birth control affect your body and what you can do to balance your hormones once again at this link: http://natural-fertility-info.com/birth-control-fertility.html
I suggest you consider supplementing with a good iron supplement due to your consistent blood loss over such a long time.

Hi dalene,
I have pcos and have been ttc for over 3 years before i was diagnosed with pcos. I took depo provera for a year and since then have not been getting my period regularly. Do you think fertility cleanse will be a good idea?
Thanks
Hi Rachel,
The Fertility Cleanse in general is a great way for anyone who is experiencing fertility challenges to create a foundation for hormonal balance and a healthy uterus for implantation. Fertility Cleansing creates a “clean slate” within the body that helps the body to respond and utilize other natural remedies better. While Fertility Cleansing may be a great place to begin, other factors need to be in place as well. Nutritional considerations, as well as exercise and possibly additional herbs may be necessary to bring the body back into balance. Hello
I have been trying to conceive now for 6 yrs and no success..they have tried clomid, metformin etc still no success..well just recently my thyroid test came back high so they put me on synthroid and i was wanting to do the cleanse and do a fertility kit by taking all herbs..would the cleanse be a problem while taking the thyroid medication?
Hi Ashley,
From a holistic perspective, cleansing the liver (where thyroid hormones are metabolized) makes sense, so that proper thyroid function is supported. I am not a medical doctor and therefore cannot say for sure how Synthroid may be effected by doing a liver cleanse. The second phase of the Fertility Cleanse is a liver cleanse. It would be best to get your doctors approval prior to choosing to cleanse the liver.
All the best,
Dalene
How soon after the depo can you ovulate?and can you ovulate and become pregnant without a period foe like 3 years?
I am currently prescribed 50 mcg of synthroid for my thyroid. Should I continue to take this while doing my cleanse or should I take a break from it? Thanks for your help!
Hi Danielle,
Depo-Provera injectable shot contains progestin. If you have not had a period for three years after using Depo-Provera, it would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about what may be happening with your body.

Dalene
Hi Jennifer,
We do not recommend going off of medications your body is relying on to maintain proper function. Please talk to your doctor about the safety of doing a liver cleanse while using synthroid. Phase 2 of the Fertility Cleanse is a liver cleanse, thyroid hormones are metabolized in the liver, which may have an affect on your medication. Please talk to your doctor about this. Hello
I have just been diagnosed with thyroid disfunction which my doctor believes is the root cause of my recurrent miscarriage. I will be taking the medication and was hoping to do the cleanse before trying again. Can the herbs and thyroid medication be taken together? Thanks
Hi Rebecca,
Most doctors find that the Fertility Cleanse is fine to take while on thyroid medications, but it would be best to speak with your doctor about it first. Here are some guides you may find helpful…
