Hi Ladies,
I thought I'd share with you all my experience with Vitex.
To give you a brief background, I have been ttc for 21 months now. I started having crazy periods last year around july. Went three months without a period and when they returned in october, my cycles have been between 60 to 70 days long.
Around May this year I came across this site and started taking Vitex, dong quai, flaxseed oil, multi-vitamins, true whey and maca. For the first two cycles I was using vitex in tablet form as that was what I could get hold of where I was living. I didnt see any change in my cycle length although I noticed my cervical fluid and waking temperatures were less erratic.
Towards the end of july, I switched to an organic liquid vitex I bought from iherb. I stopped taking everything else and only used flaxseed oil and the liquid vitex. Miraculously, the first cycle on this combination, I had a cycle length of 58 days then the next one was 44 days and my last cycle was 34 days.
I was previously told by my GP that my blood tests (these were taken in early october on day 3 of my cycle) showed normal hormone levels but yday I had an appointment with a gynaecologist at a fertility clinic and he told me that the FSH levels from those blood test results were extremely low and this was probably the reason why my periods were so irregular and long. Anyhow, I know there has been some discussion on the forum about people worrying that vitex lowers FSH levels. From my own experience, it has shown that it has done the opposite because my periods seem to be getting back to their normal cycle length and this is an inidcation that my FSH levels are normalising too. I will be repeating the blood test on day 3 of my next cycle so I hope to confirm with you all then what my FSH levels are now.
Laslty, I just want to say a really big thank you, from the bottom of my heart to Hethir and Dalene for this website and the great work you're doing.
