Progesterone Cream

Postby arlinda83 » Fri Jan 08, 2010

For Hethir or Dalene,
I have 3 questions:
1. In terms of the usage of progesterone cream, should I use it for 14 or 21 days in order for me to have a period?

2. Since I am taking Vitex also, is it safe to take it with progesterone cream or use Vitex only for the first two weeks of my cycle in order to ovulate and then use progesterone cream?

3. Is Vitex and progesterone cream better on the body for ovulation and fertility rather than Clomid and Provera?

Hi arlinda83,

1. Without knowing anything about your fertility challenges it is hard to say if this would be the best way for you to use progesterone cream for bringing back your menstrual cycle.

Here is a general guideline from Dr. John Lee on using Progesterone Cream-

When it comes to dosage, more is not better. Too much progesterone can cause hormonal imbalances, just like too little progesterone can. Dr. John Lee recommends a dosage of 15-30mg during the two weeks before your period.

Dr. Lee recommends that progesterone use begin directly after ovulation, which is usually day 12 in our cycles (twelve days after menstruation), and ending usage once menstruation begins.

Reading our Progesterone Fertility Guide in its entirety may help you to learn the proper ways of using Progesterone Cream.

2. Vitex is safe to take while using Progesterone Cream. Hethir and I have found that using Vitex all month long works just fine. Every woman's body is different, some find it works best for them if they use Vitex up until ovulation and then switch to Progesterone Cream after ovulation.

3. I am not a medical doctor and am not familiar with exactly how those fertility medications work. They do contain synthetic ingredients/hormones which directly affects your body systems, natural progesterone and Vitex work with your body and do not contain synthetic ingredients.

Best wishes,

Dalene

Hi deks,

If progesterone cream is used at the wrong time during your cycle it can suppress ovulation.

It is best to know when you are ovulating by charting your menstrual cycle so you know when to being the progesterone cream.

All the best,

Dalene
