What percentage is usually male problem?

Postby Juanita » Fri Feb 20, 2009

Does anyone know what percentage of the time the fertility issue ends up being the male's problem? I'm wondering if we should go through extensive sperm testing before thinking it is 100% my fault that we are not getting pregnant.

Hi Juanita,

That is a great question. The general statistic is 40% female factor, 40% male factor, 10% both. It is a good idea to have a sperm test done if you are having a hard time becoming pregnant in addition to having testing done for yourself. The usual recommendation is after a year of trying with no success.
