side effects from herbal supplements

Hello Dalene and/or Hethir,
Thank you for your good work here. I appreciate all your knowledge and generosity.

I am 36, have been TTC for 2 years. I completed the fertility cleanse about a month ago, and had a 35 day cycle which is pretty decent for me considering I have symptoms of PCOS. My period started out with a few days of light brown spotting and then opened up to a normal amount of red with the entire period lasting about 9 days. started all the herbs in Natural Fertility PCOS kit and the Egg health kit the day after my period ended and am currently on day 23. I am planning to start the progesterone tomorrow. These past 3 days, I have had on and off bouts of aches and pains in my inner thighs, lower back and neck -also some general malaise, bloating and dull headaches. I am wondering if any of these symptoms could be the result of hormonal changes cause from the herbs and is this a sign that my dosages (I am just taking them as instructed on the info sheets that were sent with the kits) could be a little too high to start? If these aches etc. could be caused by the herbs which should I cut back on? Is it okay to introduce all the herbs in both these kits at once? Also wondering if I should be doing the caster oil along with these kits? I have not done them since starting my period this cycle. I have not been doing the fertility massage either. I have been quite careful with my diet -lots of green veggies, no alcohol etc.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Has this just been going on for a few days or have you experienced this since the very beginning of taking the herbs? It is hard to say if it is the herbs or you caught a bug (sickness) of some sort.

Also, do you chart your cycle? Do you know if you ovulated and that is why you are choosing to begin the progesterone cream on day 23? or are you estimating?

If you think that all the herbs you are already taking may be causing any sort of side effect, maybe adding progesterone at this time may not be the best thing, until you know for sure if the herbs are effecting you in this way.

How much maca are you taking? How much Vitex are you taking?

Self Fertility Massage and Castor Oil packs are a great addition to these kits.

It is safe for all the products from both kits to be used together, but if you have never taken herbal supplements adding all these at once may be stressful for your body. You may want to consider beginning with just the PCOS kit for a month and then beginning the Improve Egg health kit later.

Just an idea.

Working toward establishing a regular cycle and reducing the effects of PCOS may be more important first, then work toward improving egg health.

Hi,:)
I was wondering is it safe to take the Spirulina and Maca together? And how exactly is the Maca beneficial for Fertility for women because most of what i read on it is regarding the benefits for men?
Thank u:)

Hopeful2,

Maca and Spirulina are fine to take together.

Maca is a nourishing food for the endocrine system, aiding both the pituitary, adrenal, and thyroid glands (all involved in hormonal balance.) Maca has the ability to affect key hormones in both women and men without containing hormones itself.

Maca helps to stimulate and nourish the pituitary gland, acting as a tonic for the hormone system. When the pituitary gland functions optimally, the entire endocrine system becomes balanced, because the pituitary gland controls the hormone output of the other three glands.

In women, maca works by controlling estrogen in the body. Estrogen levels that are high or low at the wrong time can keep a woman from becoming pregnant or keep her from carrying to term. Excess estrogen levels also cause progesterone levels to become too low. Taking maca may help to increase the progesterone levels which are essential to carrying a healthy pregnancy.

Hope that helps

Hi Dalene:)
I am about to start the Cleansing Kit and I was going to also combine taking the supplements Maca, royal jelly and Spirulina, and after reading about the Vitex I am planning on taking it as well. Is it safe to combine all of these products? Also after the cleansing kit I was considering doing the pregnancy preperation kit how long after the cleansing kit should I wait to start that?
Thank you Hopeful2

Hi Hopeful2,

Maca, spirulina, and royal jelly are fine to take during the cleanse. Vitex is best used after the cleanse is over. The best time to begin the Pregnancy Preparation kit is the day after your period ends at the end of the cleanse. Same for the Vitex.

Thank u for your response, I apologize I did post this same question on the other index first last week but was anxiously awaiting a response and after four days or so I was growing concerned that perhaps it would be better seen on this index in which it was as you responded here first because I was holding off starting the cleanse which i was to start two days ago but was waiting.Thank u
