Is This An Acceptable Combination?

Postby cowgirlchick » Thu May 27, 2010

Am I taking an acceptable supplement combination? Im taking Pro Creation Female Fertility Supplement, 500mg Royal Jelly, 300mg Maca, and have now added 530mg Dong Quai and 800mg Vitex. Do any of these doses need to be inceased/decreased? Is the combination safe to take, or is that too many different herbs at once? My OB doesnt know much (if anything) about these supplements and had no concerns, but I thought Id check with an herbalist who KNOWS! :) Thanks!

We are not familiar with the ProCreation supplement, so cannot say on that one.

General suggested dosage for Vitex is 1000mg a day.

For Dong Quai 3100mg of pure dong quai.

Please follow the recommended dosage for the product you are taking.

All of those are fine to take together except the ProCreation one...not familiar.

I am 44 y/o and TTC through AI. I started taking Fertilaid supplements along with Fertile CM 3 weeks ago. After reading some of the forums here I was thinking of adding Vitex to take along with the Fertilaid. My concern is that Fertilaid contains Vitex but I do not know just how much so I am not sure if I should take the additional suplement. Another question, what else can I take to increase my chances of conception. I have regular periods & ovulate monthly, and I am in good health.I know the medical community considers my eggs "old" but I want to give every effort to concievenaturally without taking clomid or some other medication. Can you help?

Fertilaid is popular by many, but it is not our product and I am not familiar with it. The general suggested dosage of Vitex daily is 1000mg- 1200mg being the greatest amount. Do not exceed this dosage. Call the makers of Fertilaid to ask how much Vitex is in their product.

If you would like to learn what you can do naturally to Increase your Egg Heatlh please go to this link: http://natural-fertility-info.com/increase-egg-health

Because you have regular menstruation and regular ovulation you may not need to use Vitex as vitex is usually suggested for women who are not ovulating or have mestrual cycle irregularities.

Thank you so much for your response! I have sent an email to Fairhaven Health regarding the amount of Vitex in FertilAid as suggested. I was taking additional supplements of vitex as I read it helps to mildly inhibit FSH. I will be taking some blood tests in a few weeks and I wanted to at least try to staibilize my FSH level if possible. I know it takes at least 3 months to see some results but I figured it wouldn't hurt.

I am also taking 300mg of Maca along with the FertilAid and Fertile CM. My RE doesn't seem to have a problem with me taking herbal supplements since I willl be trying IUI on a natural cycle however he did mention if no success this way, he may need to introduce Clomid which at that point I will need to stop taking supplements. Thanks again for your advice!
