Pregnancy/Herbs for Pregnancy

Think we need to add something to the website, forums, or shop. Here's where you tell us what you'd like to see in the future.

Pregnancy/Herbs for Pregnancy

Postby fellow_cyster » Tue Aug 25, 2009

I do agree with the previous message. I wanted to post this weeks ago but have been ill...

While dealing with infertility is hard, and reading about people getting pregnant is even harder, I tcan personally say the benefits out weigh the negatives. Especially regarding natural treatments. Natural treatments are relatively new to most people. So if they've been dealing with IF for years, then hear someone got PG using natural treatments, they'd want to know what they used. Having a pregnancy thread would be helpful, I think. Not to rub it in, obviously that is not the point of this forum, but instead to educate women and give them hope that pregnancy IS extremely possible.

Also, I've had MANY women contact me through my site asking about herbs to use for PCOS/Infertility...however a lot have been concerned about pregnancy and herbs. Unfortunately there is practically NO information on the internet regarding what herbs are safe to take during pregnancy. The only info you can find are western medicine websites swearing taking herbs at anytime will kill you !! Especially if you're pregnant, they will cause birth defects, miscarriage, etc.

We all know there are certain meds and herbs you should not take during pregnancy, however I do know there are some you can take, and some that are extremely beneficial to take during PG. Having an article, forum or something similar to educate those of us who do become pregnant, about the herbs that would help us to strengthen our bodies, and protect the pregnancy as much as possible would be a HUGE blessing !!!!

Thanks for the suggestion. I think it is a great idea. We have had it on our list for a long time to provide resources and information for pregnancy.

On that note... What would you suggest for the pregnancy forum?

Hi Hethir,

I completely agree with the above suggestion, in fact I wanted to suggest it myself. I have been trying to get pregnant, and when I do, I think it would be great to have a resource to turn to, to make sure that my baby has the highest chance of surviving and being as healthy as possible. I have attempted to google this information as well, and it's really hard to find. I personally would like to see the following information in a pregnancy forum:

Crucial nutrients needed to sustain a healthy pregnancy, and ways to ensure you are meeting these needs.
Information on the growth cycle of the fetus, and what nutrients play a key role during each phase.
A list of beneficial, safe and unsafe herbs/supplements to use during pregnancy.
Exercise, yoga, or other things that could help make pregnancy easier for your baby and yourself.
Information on a natural labor and delivery, and how to prepare for it.
Natural ways to deal with the uncomfortable side effects of pregnancy.

I was pregnant and miscarried at week 11. Information on how to prevent this from happening once you achieve pregnancy would be very helpful. Also, I remember having the strangest cravings for fried food (which I never typically eat) and I would love to know the reason for this. I'm sure I was deficient in something. That could be discussed in your forum as well.

Hopefully these suggestions help. I am a huge fan of your website and I want to thank you for helping me and so many people prepare for a healthy conception! It would be a great addition to your website if you had information helping those who do achieve pregnancy to sustain it.

Thanks again!

I agree with Tasha's recommendations.

My main concern is herbs. I was taking a good number of them before pregnancy, but stopped cold turkey because I have NO clue which are ok and which are not during pregnancy. Like Tasha said, when you research all you get are western medicine sites that swear herbs will kill your baby! Knowing which to take, and not to take would be benenficial.

I also agree with discussing yoga, acupuncture, exercise, etc. during pregnancy.

And possibly a place to discuss concerns. Many women who become PG after infertility have a long list of concerns. Naturally, these issues should be address with their doctors, however there may be some natural ways of handling them instead of having a doctor throw pills at us (we all know how they love to do that!) :D

Hello all,
I know the pregnancy forum was suggested quit a while ago, (Aug/Sept) but I am new and just surfing the forums. I just found this site and am so happy to have done so. I am taking to heart all that you offer and I would hope that one day when all my hard work has paid off and I do get pregnant I will still have you to turn to. I would hate to utilize all your info and then become a success story only to be turned out. I completely understand the concern of issues of sensitivity believe me! I have had 9 miscarriages (what brought me to your site) and so desperately want to become a mother. It is so hard having to sit and watch person after person friend, co-worker or stranger get pregnant time and time again. It's frustrating and heart breaking. If there was a site like that though, I could (on my good days) possibly get a touch of hope and reassurance that when it happens for me the people (natural fertility info.com) who helped me get there would be there for me then too! Just a thought. Thanks so much,

mstross,

Thanks for reading this old thread. Thank you for also having a desire to continue on with a natural pregnancy and hoping that someday there will be a site for natural pregnancy. Hethir and I have taken this into consideration and have been working on putting something out as a resource for what may be helpful naturally for pregnancy, including herbs that are safe and not safe. As you know this takes a lot of time and research and will be out in the future. We are not sure about a website for pregnancy yet (that is a another can of worms to be dealt with) as this site consumes most of our time. Thanks for your support, we greatly appreciate it!
