First IUI

Postby Lisa LCSW » Thu May 20, 2010

Hello,
I've just had my first IUI this morning (fingers crossed), am 40 years old and had a course of 4 days of 200mg Clomid and a shot of Ovidrel two days ago (structually fine, functionally 'old'). I am going to assume that I am pregnant until further notice, and as such have a few questions about what I can do to improve pregnancy at this time. I have been taking Maca, royal jelly, l-arginine, vitex, homeopathic sublingual progesterone as well as standard suppliments like paba, zinc, calcium, prenatal, D, supergreens. I have also been using a hot pack on my abdomen. I stopped most of the supplements while on the medications. I asked my RE about this but he is unfamiliar with natural supplementation. Is there any contraindication to continuing the maca, royal jelly, l-argine, vitex and hot pack? Is there a supplement I should add or specifically stay away from?
I have switched already from fertility tea to pregnancy tea by traditional medicinals and have been undergoing acupuncture and listening to Circle Blooms new IUI recordings.
Thanks for having such a wonderful site, access to great products, sharing your vast knowledge and allowing others to connect.

Please stop taking/doing the L-Arginine, Vitex (you may want to wean yourself off of this), and the hot packs.

Please get the ok from your doctor to continue the Maca and Royal Jelly. Everything else you are doing sounds great. Remember to eat really well.

Thank you for your kind words and support.

I have an appointment to see an RE for an initial consultation to discuss my options for conceiving through IUI. Is there anything I can do to prepare my body for this procedure, I will be trying a natural cycle first before considering prescribed medications. What questions should I ask regarding natural options?

Hi drllsn07,

Ideas on places to begin learning what you can do to increase your chances of a successful IUI or IVF are-

Prepare for IVF: http://natural-fertility-info.com/increase-ivf-success

Natural Fertility Consultation: http://natural-fertility-info.com/natural-fertility-email-consultations

Have you been told by your doctors why IUI is a good option for you? For example is the infertility due to poor egg quality, low sperm count, ect? Without knowing why you are looking into IUI or what your fertility challenges it is difficult for me to guide you in the best direction.

I am single without a partner so I will need to go the donor route using IUI :-) The only fertility challenges thus far is my age (44). After I find out the results of my blood tests, I guess he will let me know the prognosis. I will write back after my next appointment.

I have been hearing about Royal Jelly in these forums. Is this something that I can add for increased egg health? I am taking FertilAid, vitex (400mg,) maca, and Fertile CM. I will probably order "baby & me" and drop the FerilAid supplements. Any suggestions would be welcomed. I am planning to have the procedure done in August

Hi,

Yes royal jelly may be helpful in increasing egg health. Royal Jelly is a fertility superfood which may help to increase the egg quality and quantities. Royal Jelly is the food that only the queen bee eats. What makes a queen bee the queen is eating royal jelly exclusively. She was an ordinary bee and then she was chosen and fed royal jelly and became the queen bee who lays up to 2000 eggs a day. It should be taken for at least three months before natural conception or IVF procedures begin.

Royal jelly is the Queen bee’s equivalent of hormonal stimulation. Take daily for best results. Caution:: If you are allergic or think you are allergic to bee’s or bee products, do not take royal jelly.
