I have been so busy shooting the videos for my upcoming fertility program that I have not been able to respond to many of the questions that you all have been asking. So I took a moment out and created this video to answer some of them…
I mentioned sublingual progesterone in the video. You can find out more about that in this fertility progesterone guide.
I was wondering: I have heard that certain foods, such as apples, chickpeas, green beans, snap peas, etc. are estrogenic, and therefore should be avoided by people who have estrogen dominance (such as PCOS, endometriosis, etc.). What do you think of this?
While there may be certain foods that contain some estrogenic mimicking properties, it matters how you are eating them. The list of foods you mentioned also contain a good amount of fiber, which helps to metabolize and dispose of excess estrogens.
My main concern lies with foods that we eat in large concentrated amounts that are processed, such as soy. Soy milk, soy cereal, soy meats, soy protien powder, soy cheese… all of these foods are processed, concentrated soy. The fiber has been taken out through the processing so it becomes concentrated.
In a fertility diet there should be no soy consumed at all. As for the foods on the list above, I would not worry about any of them unless you are eating large, concentrated amounts.
I would be more concerned about the added hormones to commercial dairy and meats.
Hi Hethir,
I have a few questions for you. I gave birth this year in February to my first child, she died after 3 days, due to some complications from me having diabetes very early or right before conception with her. The doctor’s were never quite sure which took place first, the diabetes or the conception. I have PCOS and have recently started on vitex extract. I did have a menstrual cycle this month after not having one for the past 2 months. But this cycle was very long. It lasted around 3 weeks. It started out very slow with some brown blood in the beginning for a few days, then some light spotting for a few days, then a heavy flow of blood for the duration of the cycle. When i do manage to have a cycle on my own it last around 9-10 days. My question is vitex to be continued even during your menstrual flow. Also, I have incorperated several other herbs, such as dang qui, nettle, red clover, astragulas, milk thistle, and maca along with the vitex. Another inquiry that I had was about the fertility shake that I have really grown to love by the way. I have heard many times that it is not recommended that women with PCOS consume to many cold or damp foods such as cold drinks or dairy products. With that said do you think that this would be beneficial for me to take daily? Hethir any enlightment or suggestions that you can give me in this matter will be appreciated. I am eager to get my body back on track to be able to concieve.
Go ahead and take vitex all month long, the other herbs sound fine but the biggest impact for PCOS is following a PCOS fertility diet. It is similar to the fertility diet mentioned here, but you will want to make sure you are eating equal amounts of protiens and carbohydrates every meal, eat 5 smaller meals a day, excercise 30 min. 5x week, eat only organic meats, no sugars, and no dairy. You are correct about the “dampness”… The smoothie is very benificial, but for PCOS it may be too cold and damp. BUT Juicing fresh vegetable juices would be awesome for you.
Are you taking a Prenatal ( I love MegaFoods – Baby and Me) and EFA’s (evening primrose from menstruation to ovulation, fish oils from ovulation to menstruation.)?
That is a good start, I am creating a program specificaly for PCOS that is much more complete, but This should give you a great start in the mean time.
I was just wondering if it is safe to take my Vitex,Maca and evening primrose oil if I am on Clomid? My RE prescribed it to take starting on day 5 to day 9 after having a early miscarriage 7 weeks ago and starting my cycle Nov13th when a IUI was obviously not succsesful.

We don’t recommend taking any fertility herbs while on fertility medications. It you wish to continue these herbs please ask your doctor for approval. There has not been enough research to show if fertility herbs and fertility medications may react negatively to one another.

I am not a doctor so I can not determine whether you are going through menopause or not. If your doctor says you are post menopausal and you don’t believe him it is your right to seek a second opinion. Considering your age, he may be right. Every woman’s body is different, we will all go through menopause at some point and none of us knows when. I don’t want to discourage you.
You may want to learn about improving ovulation by reading about the herb Vitex. Vitex has been shown to improve menstrual timing and normalizing ovulation.
L-Arginine is an amino acid that promotes the synthesis of Nitric Oxide(NO). Nitric Oxide is naturally produced by the body and is important for blood dilation, increases blood flow to the uterus, ovaries and genitals
The main 4 important effects NO has on the female body are:
Increases cervical mucous
Enhances libido
Creates a healthy environment in the uterus for implantation
May extend fertility for women over 40
It may be beneficial to also learn about Improving Egg Health. As we age, so do our eggs.
Before you choose to try any natural remedies you may first want to know for sure if you have gone through menopause. If you have only missed 3 periods you may want to discuss with your doctor if he may be mistaken.
I came off the pill last may and since then i have only had 3 periods. However I havent had a period now since december, I have read that it can take a while for periods to sort themselves out after coming off the pill, so is what i am going through normal? I went on the pill to regulate my periods as they were irregular, i am currently taking agnus castus and EPO but have only been for 1month. Is there anything else I can take to help me ovulate or regulate my periods as I want to start TTC,
It sounds like you are on the right track. EPO and Vitex may take many months to acheive desired results. Since it has only been one month you may want to continue on with these herbs and see what happens.
The irregular periods are very normal for women coming off of birth control. Birth control pills are made from synthetic hormones or hormones found in Mare urine. These hormones have to be filtered out by the liver and other organs, the Fertility Cleanse Kit may be able to help you cleanse those excess hormones from your body, which in turn may help your body regulate its own hormones.
Hi,I have a problem,I came off birth control pills last September and had short regular periods every month but then in April I started acupuncture and these herbs , Maca,Vitex,Ding Qui ,and a infertility blend my natural path doctor gave me.Since I started all this in the beginning of April I have not a any more periods! I did all this to help regulate my periods ,not stop them, now I’m worried. Please tell me what happened.:(
