Natural Fertility Treatments to Avoid Invasive Infertility Treatment and Get Pregnant

Fertility Superfoods to Help You Get Pregnant

by Hethir Rodriguez, B.S., M.H., C.M.T.

If you have not found out yet, I am crazy about superfoods. Super foods are foods that are nutrient dense, have an abundance of minerals, vitamins, anitoxidants, and other beneficial ingredients in high amounts.

Superfoods should be a part of every cogenuples fertility diet to help bridge the gap for proper nutrition, nourish the egg and the sperm, and help to balance hormones. Here is a rundown of 5 Fertility Superfoods your should know about:

Maca
Maca is a wonderful superfood from Peru which helps to balance the hormones, increase egg health, increase sperm count and sperm health while also being a tonic for the endocrine system. Maca also helps to increase progesterone if the body is low in this important hormone. Maca comes in capsules, powder and tincture. It can be taken everyday.

Royal Jelly

Royal jelly is another fertility specific superfood which may help to increase egg health, quality of egg, and genreal fertility. Royal jelly is the food that is fed to the queen bee which is what makes her the queen bee. She goes on to live 6 years and lays up to 2000 eggs per day. Most bees live less than two months.

Royal Jelly is rich in vitamins, A, B, C, D,and E. It is also contains minerals including calcium and iron, all of the essential amino acids plus antibacterial and immune stimulating properties.
Royal jelly comes in capsules or in a base of honey. It can be taken everyday.

Bee Propolis and Bee Pollen

Bee propollis and bee pollen are two more fertility super foods from our friends the bee. These foods are rich in nutrients. Bee pollen contains 50% more protein than beef and is rich in every vitamin and mineral. Bee Propolis is a powerful immune system stimulant and inflammation aid. It also helps women who have endometriosis.
Bee propolis and Bee Pollen are available in capsules or in a base of honey. They can be taken everyday. I like to take all three together in one product.

Whey protein powder
While we all know that protein is essential for a healthy diet, many women do not get enough protein in there diet daily. In the fertility diet it is essential to have protein with each meal so your blood sugar levels stay balanced. This can be hard in our daily lifestyles so I suggest for you to use a protein powder. But it can be hard to find a protein powder that is acceptable with a healthy fertility diet. All protein sources should be organic or raised without hormones and antibiotics, and the protein source should never be soy.

I have found one protein powder the is made from “clean” whey, which means it was made from cows milk that does not have any hormones or antibiotics. It is called True Whey. True Whey does not contain sugars, dyes, or artificial ingredients. This has been essential in many women sticking to there fertility diet.

Spirulina
Spirulina is a tiny aquatic plant has been eaten by humans since prehistoric times and is grown worldwide as a healthy food. Imagine a vegetable with more protein than soy, more Vitamin A than carrots, more iron than beef, profound source of protective phytochemicals, naturally low in fat, source of the essential fatty acid GLA and is easy to digest.

Spirulina makes it easy to get your greens every day. Spirulina is available in a powder form.

Easy Fertility Smoothie Recipe

1 banana
1teaspoon Maca
1/2 teaspoon Spirulina
2 scoops True Whey protein powder
1teaspoon Alive Bee Power (contains royal jelly, propolis, & bee pollen

how long does it take for the natural products to work 1 month two how long should i be on them

2 hethir December 6, 2008

Hi Shona,

This is such a great question. And I plan to write about this in the near future. But to answer you, it takes some time. I get asked how long someone should take a supplement or herb before they stop and my answer for most supplements and herbs is “until you get pregnant”. It will take at least 3 months to get the bigger benefits of most herbs such as maca, vitex, dong quai, etc.

Also keep in mind that the cycle of an eggs health is at least 90 days, so what you eat and take today impacts the egg you will ovulate three months from now.

is it safe to take Spirulina when you are pregnant?

8 Dalene Barton, CH, Doula April 8, 2011

Hi Natalie,

Spirulina has been shown safe for pregnancy when it comes from a clean source. It is always best with any kind of supplement to let your doctor know you want to take this.

Hi.
I am trying really hard the next few months so my Husband and I can concieve a baby. We have always taken Basic Vitamins{ one a day} Now we have looked into taking FertilAid for Men and Women. I also have primrose oil. We also have been looking at other protein powders we can put in our smoothies we make every morrning, and on our ceral. I have looked in to maca, count boost, whey protein, and flax, and some other items. We really would like to know what we can take on a daily basis that won’t be a waist. Could you help us out with what is all good together. that will help us get pregnant.
Thanks Andrea

Hi Andrea,

In general we feel that taking a good whole food multivitamin in preparation for pregnancy is best. This is because whole food multivitamins are 100% absorbed by the body. Other multivitamins are hard for the body to digest and sometimes our bodies to not break them down to utilize them. You can learn more about why wholefood multivitamins are best here: http://natural-fertility-info.com/multivitamin

In general I have a list of herbs, supplements and diet tips I feel are best for preparing for pregnancy for both men and women. Here they are-

Women
Pregnancy Prep for women- great overall herbal support, uterine tonic, hormone regulator
Red Raspberry Leaf- uterine tonic, very high in vitamins and minerals
Natural Fertility Diet
Maca-nourishing for the entire hormonal control systems in the body, superior nutrition, as well as libido and stress support

Men
Maca-nourishing for the entire hormonal control systems in the body, superior nutrition, as well as libido and stress support
Male Fertility Diet

Overall, if you feel you do not get enough protein in your diet, Fertilica Whey is a great way to boost the daily intake, it has 19 grams of protein per serving. Ground flax seed is an excellent way to get a lot of fiber, which is known to reduce excess estrogen in the body. If you feel your diet is poor, I deffinitely think the #1 thing you can do is add Fertility Superfoods, especially Fertilica Maca and Fertilica UltraGreens. The Fertility Diet alone is going to be a great way to increase reproductive and overall health.

Best Wishes on your journey,

Dalene
